STARR'S EARTHQUAKE

The Starr Report & Video Testimony

Independent counsel Kenneth Starr released his much-anticipated Starr report to send shock waves into the White House, Congress and Democratic camp. The report, which includes a detailed account of President Clinton's relations with Monica Lewinsky, has been presented to the Congress for assessment. Starr believes the 445-page document contains unquestionable evidence and credible information that "may constitute grounds for impeachment."

In addition, the Judiciary Committee has recently approved the release of Clinton's four-hour testimony before the Grand Jury. There is currently controversy surrounding the release of such material and their broadcast. Public opinion in the U.S. is split even on whether such evidence should be made public, questioning its relevance to the jury's decision-making. For this reason, polls are springing out from every corner of America to investigate public opinion on the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. However, The Ambassadors monthly poll will gather public opinion from around the globe regarding the Clinton case. To answer the question, simply click the arrow key and pick either "yes" or "no" response. The results will be posted on a periodical basis.

NEWS BULLETIN

ON OCTOBER 8, THE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE IN THE U.S.A. DECIDED TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH AN IMPEACHMENT INVESTIGATION OF THE PRESIDENT.

President Bill Clinton has joined the ranks of two previous American presidents who faced an impeachment investigation. In 1868, Andrew Johnson escaped an impeachment decision by a single Senate vote, and president Richard Nixon resigned before being removed from office in 1974. History repeats itself in the dawn of 1998 as American president Clinton will face his first impeachment hearing on November 9. The decision came following a 258-176 vote where 31 democrats joined the ranks of a unanimous republican front to trigger an impeachment inquiry of the Clinton.
